Money, War, Public Projects and Public Debt
The history of the financing of large constructions from the pyramids and Great Wall of China, through the cathedrals and palaces of the middle ages to the railroads, road systems and power networks of modern times, as well as the financing of wars since the times of the Egyptian Empire has been a history of taxation and debt. The change from debt of the monarch to public debt which began in England in the 17th century marks the beginning of the exponential growth of modern public finance.
In this display there are opportunities for interactive games illustrating alternative war financing.
